TM45 trouble!!!
#1
i put on my tm45 yesterday and started it, and something was clicking. like a metal on metal click. it sounds like the sound is coming somewhere from the rear of the bike...like by the airfilter or something. the idle on it is right around 3000 rpms. when i gave it a little gas the click went away briefly, but then came back. i have no idea what it is. i dont have any type of vaccum hose hooked up on it. just the 2 vent hoses. i am so lost. annnd am stumped for good.

IS THE ORING IN THE SLIDE BEHIND THE WEAR BAND IF IT IS GONE THE SLIDE WILL SLAP AT LOW RPMS OPPS Dam caps. the ring is actualy flat and is designed to keep constant presure on the wear ring some times it gose bye bye right threw the motor and you get an annoying slap sound.take the top off remove the slide assy and inspect it.

dude lol i fixed it. i cracked the carb open and it looked good so i started it again and it kept making that noise. so i smashed the heck outta the airfilter lid and the noise stopped lol i took her for a test run and the throttle cable is really really stiff. and its so tight that it makes my idle change when i give it gas. any ideas?? how do u have your cable routed??

LOL Thats one i would have never figured out i have never had a air box on any ds.And i have all 48mm tm's.And i have a 3/4" spacer made out of alum under all my gas tanks to clear the cable and allow it to be routed in the smoothest flowing direction.

when i took my stock throttle cable off, i taped the end that was on the thumb throttle, and pulled it through. so i guess i have the same set up, its just i have some extra cable bunched up. ill take a look at er tonight

i had to run a spacer under the tank on mine as well to clear the cable & keep the seat of the top of the carb.i used 2 pcs. of 1/4 X 2 aluminum. the bottom piece extends to hit the seat tabs and the other is only under the tank. if you don't do something like this the seat will flex enogh to cause problems. if you need a pisc pm me & will send you one of my set up.
