Usually the switch goes connected to the contactor. The 'RED' or positive wire to your switch needs to be spliced into your ATV wiring with the key in the 'ON' position only.

ok, thats a start, thank you for your help

 

if its a new style rocker w/ the 2 bullet connectors it should plug right into the winch wire harness and then as stated the red wire goes to a hot wire under the pod(orange i think) if its a polaris w/ the key on.
