fixing gas guage

Default fixing gas guage

i have already had two replacements,if i pull it out and put the parts in the tank back on the gas gauge what should i use to reseal it,will siliocone work?

it needs to be a gas resisint sealer as i dont think silcone would be would last but could be wrong. so whats the isue w/ the fuel gauges on these?

I had a service done on mine and he said the gas gauge is broken to me it looked like it worked but i guess not it is under warrenty so he ordered one and it takes 1 month to get he said all of the 400 ho he has seen they were broken in...

so how do you tell if there broken since i have one of these bikes? how many miles.

Well you'll know when it goes bad!
Just went through this myself and what happened is the metal frame/float/slide simply FEEL off the bottom of the "face" portion of the guage down into the tank, the dial will just spin!
If you can fish out the parts( I used a magnet to retieve the metal parts and hooked the float with a wire), you can actually put it back together but there is no reliable way to keep it all together...In my case they ordered a new guage, when it came it was the "press in" type and the early 400 HO has a screw in type so they had to replace the entire gas tank! Ended up taking about 3 weeks with all the ordering and reordering and a short back order.
I did keep my bike till the correct parts came in and it only took the boys at Drilling Motorsports a couple hours to do the fix!

Default fixing gas guage

i have had two new ones,they popped mine out,didnt replace the tank,wonder if they just put mine back together both times?29 hrs
