Hi
I am new here and was hoping someone could help me with this breather tube question.I have a 2002 polaris scrambler 500 4x4 and I took the plastics off to change the plug and a few other maintance things.There is a 1/4" by about 18"long breather tube that fell of from somewhere on the right side of the engine.It looks like the same size and same color tube for the front gearcase breather but that is still connected.I cannot figure out where it goes.The very small breather tube that goes to the tranny is still connecetd but this one fell off when I was taking the plastic off.any help would be appreciated.

there is the coolant overflow from the overflow tank but unless its empty it would be leaking out.

The coolant one is still hooked up also I forgot to mention that.this one is the same size tube as the coolant but is on the right side of the machine if you are sitting on it.

Any other guesses on where it goes?I cant find another breather opening anywhere.It is probably right in front of me.

 

it sounds like a vent tube for the carb.look at the carb on the side your talking about.

thank you for the help on this.I could not find anything on the carb that takes that big of a vent hose.It is the same size hose as the radiator overflow tube and same material.I was hoping maybe somebody has the same machine and could take a look at theirs for me and see what it attaches to.It was definitly from the right side of the atv when sitting on it.

the only vent line left is the battery,but its smaller than the rad. overflow,but about 18"

Thank you for your help.I think you were right about on the carb somewhere.I took off my plastics again and found the on the right side of the carb on the side of the carb is a breather hole about 1/4"in size.I could not see it before because it is covered by the black breather tube from the air box that runs in front of it.Thank You again for your help.
