Default New to riding and i need some help

I just bought a 2000 trailblazer and went out last weekend for the first time. Im having a problem with the machine. It runs great intill it starts to get hot, after alittle while riding it starts to get slugish. We thought it might be a problem with the belt but after checking it out it looks brand new. the spark plugs are brand new. The machine is basically brand new. I bought it off a guy at work who says they only went out riding on it a few times. I have a 4 stroke bike yamaha 250 TTR but I dont know much about 2-strokes and this is my first atv. If anyone could help me out on what i should be looking for id appreciate it

give it a compression test you should be around 120 psi for best performance anything below 80 and its time for a top end rebuild

anything below 100 its time for a rebuild. check for air leaks. since it has an aluminum crank case and it seems to be heat related, the crankcase may expand somewhere and allow air into the cylinder. 2 strokes need to be air tight to run correctly because of their nature. a normal failure spot are the seals on the crank shaft. very easy to replace.
