Default 2003 700 Flashing Battery Light - Need some assistance please

My 700 died on me - I replaced the battery and I am still getting the flashing battery on the display and eventually it quits after several hours and I have a dead battery. Checked the connections, took them apart and cleaned them at the battery and voltage regulator - no luck.

I did put a new smaller battery in because I had broken down and thought it was the battery, but it still wore that one down to and have the flashing battery light in about 5 minutes.

Does anyone know how to check the stator output on this machine. I have a repair manual for my old 500 and its not very clear. Need to get this back up an running quick.

Thanks!

check to see if the battery is getting about 13vdc at idle. Do this with a Volt Meter put the red on positive and black on negative battery terminals. when engine is reved up it should be no more than 15-16 VDC. I suspect your system is not putting out a charge on the battery. The battery light shows a battery low voltage or a battery overvoltage, one or the other will trip this warning light, in your case it is the low voltage. Just my 2 cents.

Think I have it figured out - my local Polaris Mechanic told me how to figure it out quick - measure between the yellow wires from the stator and you should see no less than 30v AC, anything below that is unacceptable. I had almost 40v AC so the stator was not my problem, measured the output from the regulator and I was only getting 2.8v DC, so looks like I have a bad voltage regulator - $109.00.
