Are K&N air filters worth the money?

 

I think i might get one just for the fact that you can clean them yourself and dont have to buy a new one since mine gets plugged fairly fast...performance i dont think it will be nothing special.... but some of the charts on the k&n site says 3-5 hrpower

 

no they aren't the horsepower is kind of bs IMO and I would never get one, because the improved air flow allows larger particles into motor and that is bad news
if you really want one get an outerwears for sure
also if you really want an aftermarket one I'd go with a UNI

 

Do you clean the atv K&Ns like the vehicle K&Ns? Water, and the recharge kit?

There have been so many debates on this topic. I think as a K&N filter owner though I would rather
run paper stock filter for extreme dusty conditions. I haven't done it yet, but where I ride in the mountains on
the hard pack there is this red dust that gets everywhere and I think the paper will be a better filter. - IMO

use UNI filters. they are still reusable filters but do a MUCH better job at filtering dirt than K&N

Over 2400 miles on my 2006 450 and on the third paper filter.......Sounds good to me!

Also in some quads the improved flow in cold conditions will hinder a start in cold conditions. In moist warm conditions i use K&N for dusty and cold condtions i use UNI

 

We just bought two Polaris sportsmans that have K&N filters. One of them had another cover over it that looked to keep out the fine dust. Has anyone seen this or used it? If so does it work?
