Howdy everyone.....just placed an order for the HotGrips 475-875. Now I need to remove the stock hand grips from my 2007 500 X2 camo. Any tips on removing the stock grips? Also...any tricks or anything to be aware of during installation of the new grips? Thanx..NoJoke

 

well I tried getting mine off and tried and tried and ended up cutting them off
they are glued on, so its a real bear, if you have an air blow gun you may be able to stick in in there and pull
as far as the new ones when putting on if you need to push/twist them on be careful not to break the actual grip apart from the plastic interior

a tip for putting new grips on is the take a air gun that has the barbed type nozzle on it. most hand grips come with a hole in the end of them to give dirt dobbers a nest. another great use is the stick that barbed fitting in that hole and plug the other end of the handle bars and actually blow up the grip like a ballon. once you get it where you like it just release the air pressure.

Air does it! I have also used hair spray to slide the new ones on as it lubes them up and then dries out.

 

I usually just razor blade the old grips in half and peel them off.......

 

Just did mine with the same part #. Cut them length ways and peel off. The clean the glue off with lacquer thinner or "Goo Gone". Clean the metal well then take anything thats left with 400 grit sand paper. Make sure that it is clean enough that you don't have to force the hot grips on. If they slide on easy, no worry, cause the epoxy will bite into the sanded metal and stay tight. Good luck.

 

As far as installation goes dishsoap works good, then you can use it to cleanup aftarwards LOL

 

Carefull how you re-install, lubrication wise, as expoy will not set if contaminants are present and the hot grips are held in place with two part expoy.

 

Like posted above, I just blow em off then partially wiggle on and blow em on,no glue needed.
