Need help with my 95 polaris 300
#1
I bought my first Atv we were all excited. We bought it not running we were told it could have been couple of easy fix from couple of people. Brought the 4 wheeler home. Worked on it the next day. Make a short story of it. It had only 30 lbs. of pressure in the cylinder. Took the cylinder and piston apart. The piston is burnt passed the rings. And bottom ring was broken and stuck in the piston groove. My question is what would my next best moves would be. Don't have lots of money as I just bought the 4 wheeler. I would like to rebuild the cylinder/piston my self, but don't know where to get a good rebuild kit get and haven't got the cylinder bored yet. Any help with this new adventure would be nice. Thanks Joe

Do you have a service manual?
Anyway, I'd take the cylinder to a machine shop and they should be able to measure it for you and tell you if you could just run a hone down it and get another (stock bore) piston and rings, or if it is beyond service limits and needs to be bored for an oversize piston...
