Default Bruin 2006 idling problem

I bought an 06 used, kept it in a garage for 2 months til i could bring it home.
After riding it for awhile when i got back to my garage, I noticed when I had to shift back and forth in R and F to park it it was jumping after i got it into gear. Put it in Neutral and it started revving up the rpms slowly. Then i decided to hit the throttle and the engine would hold the my rev and sometimes go down alittle or sometimes not at all. and it backfired once when i shut if off. When the engine is cold the throttle appears to me works fine, hit the throttle it backs off. when the engine seems to be nice and warmed up it seems to stick and stay high and then becomes impossible to shift it that way. Any ideas and advice that would be great.

check the throttle return spring and get a cable lube tool and give that cable a good shot of a good water dispersing lube. i bet it is either one or both of those things causing your problem.

hm that is a thought, today though i ran it to see if it may have changed, wishful thinking i guess, it did not. In fact, when i kept it in neutral and put the choke on full it choked out then the engine started up again with the choke being on fully...that was kinda strange...after that happened i just shut it off...im gonna take it to a place i guess, ill post back if and when he figures it out.

youll get hosed for a simple carb cleaning then. you need to clean out the carb and especialy the pilot jet.

Yeah, i know but to be honest im not that intelligent when it comes to a motor. I'm not taking it to a dealer. hes kinda of our friend mechinic so i dont think he'll charge me alot to clean the carb. I just dont trust myself trying to adjust a carb..I hardly mess with engines ever so i kinda dont trust myself on things im very unfimilar with...
