HRC KIT for the trx 450r & top stock speed
#2
I haven't done it but, read alot on it. Yes it makes a big difference. If your going to get a aftermarket exhaust (which you should) I'd go with the hotcam stage II instead.

Everybody I know personally, had it installed at the dealership when new (good way to make the dealer sweeten the deal for you!!!), so I can't make a before and after comparison. But at the sand drags, it's no contest between a stocker and the HRC's.

THE HRC kit comes with Cams. It makes a huge difference on the performance. Low through high. I got my stock TRX up to 74 according to GPS. With the stock gearing you won't get much more top end but the speed you get there is unbelievable.

Ya, the hrc kit is basically a cam and a few other things that wouldn't be used if you have an aftermarket exhaust. That's why I say a HotCam if you have an exhaust. They are cheaper than the full HRC Kit and the power curve is almost identical.

yea I will be changing the pipe.
I plan to upgrade the tires then the exhuast and so on, If I put a after market pipe on it will it need to be ported to run correctly?.
I am green to the whole upgrade/mod end of things, I have been riding for years........ Just riding stock or with what the bike came on it, learned how to ride on a old 1972 125 elsinor or how ever its spelled lol sorry.

Not ported but, jetted. You'll HAVE to change the main to let the wheeler get more fuel to compensate for the increased air flow from the aftermarket exhaust. THIS IS A MUST. DO NOT START THE QUAD UNTIL IT IS DONE!

It won't blow it up or nothing. It will run with stock jetting and a slip-on. You may get a pop here and there on decel. If you get a Full exhaust system, meaning header and all, then you WILL have to rejet. If you decide to get a FULL exhaust system don't buy the HRC kit. Get yourself a nice exhaust set up with a stage 2 Hotcams and you basically have the HRC kit.

It will backfire more than on decel. It will backfire through out the range.
Yes it will run with stock jetting. The backfire here in there is because it's not getting enough gas. Gas keeps your engine cool therefore, you will be running hot. It's easy and cheap to rejet your carb and should be done.
