Default Warn Polaris winch trouble

Hi all. I have a Warn/Polaris 2500 lb. winch on my son's ATP 500. It freespools fine, powers out fine, but will not pull back in under power. What are the possible causes? I have a hunch that is the mini rocker but don't know for sure. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks ahead of time.

Default Warn Polaris winch trouble

The mini-rocker has 3 wires. One goes to a source of keyed power (we know that's good because it runs out). The other two wires go to the contactor, and one is hot when the switch is pressed to Out, and the other should be hot when pressed to IN.

You could unhook those two wires from the contactor and check them with a volt meter or test light. If they are fine, you could then hook those back up, and check for voltage between the yellow and blue cables on the contactor.

That should tell you if it is the switch, or the contactor.

Thanks Jeffin, I got to take a longer look at it and did the testing you and Warn recommended. It looks like the mini rocker switch is messed up. I have one on order and will try it out when it comes.
