LTZ50 - No Power - Wont move
#1
I bought my 4 year old a 2006 Suzuki LTZ50 and cannot get this thing to run right. It ran right for about 10 minutes when I first bought it and then the cdi went bad. The original owner did no mods to it and his kid rode it 3 times. It looks brand new.
The bike starts and idles fine, but when you give it gas it just cuts in and out and will barely move. It wont move if I am sitting on it (165 lbs) and will barely move if I hold the throttle and walk with it. Never stalls, just wont move.
I have completley cleaned the carb, changed the plug, put in a new cdi box (stock), new battery, checked for compression. I have no idea what else it could be. Feels like something electrical making it cut in and out, but I guess not. I am at a total loss. Anyone ever heard of this? I've read all of the forums on this site about this little bike, but havent seen anything like this. Just the topics of gettting it more power.....i just need to get any power.
I hate to take it to the local dealer and have them charge me $80-90 an hour just to diagnose and do all the same things I have already done. I see the bill adding up real quick.

Well, I saw your post, and i created a account to answer your question. I have a 90cc MAXFINE. Yeah, its a chinese knock off. It sat in the driveway for two years, not being able to start. After some kind of brain surge, i found out what happened to it. It was a seal on the left side of the crank shaft. Replaced it, adusted the carb, worked like new. But anyway, you defentally need to look at the clutch. When a small vehicle cant pull its own weight, its one of two things. A lack of compression, which you all ready ruled out, or a bad clutch. Im guessing that this is a auto?? Just remove the clutch, and spin it in your hand. Itll do one of two things; wont spin at all, or will spin really, really, really smooth. Eiether of these things will point to a bad clutch. I know this because i work in a atv shop. (scottmotorsports.net) We see things like this all the time in the shop, and its really an easy fix. Email me with any questions.. slayerz@bellsouth.net

Heres an idea that I do with my son's Kawi. Take off the cvt cover somehow while the bike is running. Jack up the rear off the ground. Watch the belt while your giving it gas. The belt should travel higher as the engine speed picks up. The clutch should move also. If the clutch isnt moving, then like mentioned above, it might be bad, or it has a bad torque spring.
