Default 86 trail boss 250 acting strange

I noticed after riding after a a while this weekend it started sounding different almost quieter in the engine and also when I went to shut it off it would not die even after turning the key off and flipping the kill switch, I had to flip the choke to kill the engine. then later when I went to load it in my truck it starten up fine and when about halfway up the ramp it would just bog and loose power just like my weed eater does when I first start it. Any suggestions?

check compression first. then if that come out ok (above 100 psi) then i would check for an air leak somewhere. could have blew a gasket on the head or cylinder base or it could have a cracked intake boot (carb or air filter boot). with the motor running take some carb cleaner or starter fluid and spray lightly around those areas and see if the RPM's come up. it sounds to my like you have a very lean running motor when it gets warm. just a suggestion. im sure others will chime in too
