Can some please help me find a website or manufacture that has the kit to transform an 1981 Honda 250R into a quad? I remember seeing ads for this very thing in a few magazines years back and am not sure if it is still available. Please e-mail me with any info..

Thanks Renorider (Chris)

Why would you want to ruin a perfectly good three wheeler? There are not many left around. We are the few crazy guys out there that still have them. Anyone can just go out and buy a new quad. But not anyone can own a three wheeler. It takes a lot more skill to be able to ride a trike than a quad. I don't know about you but I kinda like the weird stares people give me while I am out riding. Trikes are kinda like dinosaurs now, but if you remember, the dinosaurs were the biggest and baddest things ever on the planet. It makes me realize why I spent so much time working and tinkering with it. If you do decide to make the mistake and try to convert it, it is gonna cost you more money than it would take to just buy a trx250r to begin with. The conversion kits that i have seen ran about 1300 bucks. You also have to buy shocks, new rims, tires, and plastic. Before you know it you will easily have another 2000 in it and it probably won't be as good as the trx anyway. I think that if you want a quad go and buy one, but don't ruin a perfectly good trike. You can find the conversion kit by doing a search for "atc conversion kits" from your search engine.

I think there is a place in El Cajo, CA. NOt sure about the spelling on El Cajo. It is called Hi Performace atv I think. More info on tech connection. Go into Tech connection and click advanced search and then narrow the search to just honda 3 wheelers, scoll through the list and the info is there.

Meangreenmachine is right. If you want a fourwheeler so bad, then buy one. I'm tired of hearing people ask about converting their three wheeler to a four wheeler...SELL IT!!! and buy a four wheeler. It'll cost less and you'll have a lighter, faster machine. Why dump a ton of money into an 81 250R that you have to struggle to get parts for? Either keep it as a collector and owner of a piece of history or sell it.

Also, for all those people that want to convert their four wheeler to a snowmobile with a snotrax kit.....durrrr...get a snowmobile for the $2000. You can buy a used Arctic Cat Wildcat 700 for about that money and you'll have a 100mph sled that will REALLY perform in the snow.

About a year I thought about converting my 350x to a four wheeler. After much discussion and pricing parts I decided to buy a 300ex frame. Converting a three wheeler to a four wheeler is alot of work and very expensive. Another thing is saftey. When you modify a frame you take a chance on weakening it. The best thing to do is keep the 250r and buy a four wheeler.

Ok you guys have made a good point. I will leave it a three wheeler. I'll just save my pennies and get a quad.

Feel free to post your trike on the classifieds section of this site and mine as well. If the price is reasonable you will sell it quick.

I would have to agree with everyone else on here. If you want a quad, go buy a quad. The conversion kit I seen was $1300 and a lot of work. I thought about buying one from Hi-Performance ATV but when I called them they said they no longer make them. I was lucky becuase I had the $$ and was ready to buy but since they didn't, my 350X is still a trike. I know the urge you have to add an extra wheel but still maintain that 350X poower. I wanted four wheels but wanted the 350X power so I just kept my trike and then used the $$ for money down on a new truck(it has four wheels!)

yeah I love those stares too!!!as a matter of fact me and my brother have 200m and 200s neither in good shape (no brakes, broken fenders, etc..)but still can climb up, down ,thru, over, around, in between and ocasionly air born, just got back from Red River in Texas...Mainly alot of MotoX guys and Quads....but something about being the only 2 trikes on 2900 acres of sand, rocks, quicksand, hill climbs, miles of trails and jumps..it just makes me feel all tingly!! not to mention QUADS can't float!! One of my favorites of the 3 wheelers!
