Default Scrambler valve adjustment?

I have a 2004 scrambler 500 4x4, I would like to know what the valve clearences are for inlet & exhaust valves? Can this be done when the engine is cold? & how can I find top dead center?

Thanks Christian

Default Scrambler valve adjustment?

Engine cold, remove cam cover, remove right side cam cover plate, remove plug(makes it easier to turn engine),pull recoil and watch as upper sprocket locating pin until its at at CENTER of top of engine, then check valve clearance .Should be .006 intake and exhaust. If exhaust needs adjusting use TWO feeler guages as both adjusters on single rocker arm, intakes adjust one at a time. Good luck
