Default 550 xp owner advise...

I guys..

I plan to buy a xp 550. My major concern is the power of the new 550....Polaris said is 30-35% more powerfull than the 500. I got X2 500 2007 right now...I had a chance to try the 850 last weekend...what a amazing machine. Fast, stable, fun, I got smile all the time I test it.....I'm interest about the 550 to replace my X2 500. The 550 is about 75 pounds less in weight than my X2 500...so the weight vs power probably be great...I think. I'm interest to ear from xp 550 owner comment......So right what you think, you like, I want to ear from you...

Thanks a lot

Pat

I don't think after riding the 850 you can compare the 500 X2 against the 550......
No matter what the 550 xp owners say ...You still drove the 850 !!...LOL...
From all the post I read on here.......You are pretty well hooked on the big bore's now!!...LOL..
.......Caper...........

Caper....

I when off to the can-am 650 mat xt last year..... and buy a X2 500 for trail riding. The power of the machine was like adrenaline rush...I know....But for trail riding, working, it the trottle once......I think the 550 was a good choice.....Tomorow I supposed to try it at the dealer....never know

I have ridden the 550 and 500 back to back on the trails. The 500 seem to have more snap off the line to me. The XP had way better trail manners and the ride was just as good as a 500 sportsman (not ann X2). The 550 has some vibration at idle and a little clanky when you start it up and cut it off. Ride them both. I don't know that I would be ready to get the 550. The 850 on the other hand seemed to be a well put together machine. Hope this helps. Just make sure you ride it and really pay attention to the differences. Remember, it is a first year. I would love to have one, but I'm not ready to trade my 500 for a 550 just yet. An 850 maybe.....................yea I'd take the first year chance. LOL!!!!!

Get the 800 Sportsman cost close to the same price as the new 550 and no doubt stronger than your old 500 and the new 550 by a large margin. The 550 is the most exspensive overpriced mid size ATV I heard of. A New 750 twin cylinder Suzuki KQ is actually cheaper or the same.

I agree with TLC. The 800 is a steal right now, although I do like the low range of the 850 better, along with the better ride. With the 800 you will have better tires over the XP.

After riding the 850 XP you won't be as happy with the 550 as you would with the 800, therefore you should either get the 800 or just go ahead and get the 850 XP.
Some folks have reported "backfires" with their 850's, I've not had one backfire,NONE! If the talk of "tires " worrys you then either make a deal with the DEALER to put different ones on or go ahead and buy the less powered, harder steering, 800 with a lower low range.
Don't get me wrong the 800 is a very good quad, but the 850 XP IS BETTER even though it's a FIRST YEAR model!
The 850 Xp and the 550 XP don't have enough storage space. period.
Get the add on (lock and ride) front or rear storage boxes and for quick access to small items the fender bag.
If you're going to go with a big bore, get the best one you can! 850 XP!!

Hey TLC.... by the way......I try the king quad twice this week......don't get me wrong but is a single cylinder 722cc...not a twin. Yes is powerfull, fun, two small for long ride, not enough space racking, AWD lock is not very friendly to use.....anyway...I'll think to stick with POLARIS....
