Default 96 Warrior Carb Question

I just put a used carb on my 1996 Yamaha Warrior. It will only idle when the idle screw is all the way. Also it sputters and blows a little black smoke until I have it about half throttle.

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

does it actually drive ok? id take it apart and try to get it jetted correctly. for all you know the person who had it could have been at a high elevation and had aftermarket pipes or something

Yeah, once I get it to half throttle it seems to run great. I will order a factory rebuild kit for it and see if that fixes it.

you try adjusting your fuel screw in? your pilot jet is prolly too big it seems like, if you order a jet kit it will come with directions and all the jets you need to get it dialed in correctly.

One more question. On the carb there are three places for tubes. On the bottom for drainage, the fuel inlet, and one more. It isn't connected to anything. Is that correct or should it be hooked to something. Please excuse my ignorance.

Yep Sounds to me like somethings up with your pilot jet, either it's stopped up or it's too big. But most people never replace the pilot jet with aftermarket pipes or mods. Usually the main jet is what needs to be replaced with mods.

that other inlet hole is just a vent and there should be a hose on it hanging out near your airbox
