im going to be getting a new quad this coming spring its such a hard choice
i need ALOT of power which is better ill be doing trial riding and the kfx 450r has reverse and thats why i like it but i also like the raptor 700r which do u think is better

 

As far as those two the raptor will have more power.the kawasaki i think will beat it stock on top end which is the raptor's weakness.The kawasaki will be more agile.

 

but is the kawi good in trials whats better there

 

from what everybody says out of the 450s' the kawasaki does best in the trails,and since it came out the raptor 700 has been one of the best trail quads built.for trails I would go with the raptor.

Trail riding is the type of riding I do with my Raptor (see pics) and IMHO there is no better bike for trail riding than the Raptor. The only other two bikes I would even consider would be the Suzuki Z400 or the Honda 400EX!

 

ok thanks yeah i was looking at the z400 i dont like the 400ex really i think honda quads are slower than other brands(but i love their dirtbikes!) i have a little 07 250ex and i have a hmf full exhuast and guna have a dyno jet thing in it and a k&n air filter and the think is SO slow !!!!!!!!!!!!! and just this year i got a 1980 cr 80 and the thing is SO fast ive beat a cr 125 and a cr 250!!!! it goes 74! and has the most powerfull 2-stroke powerband i have ever felt its scary especially cause ive never ridin a dirtbike let along a 2 stroke and im only 14 almost 15- back in the day they made everything crap ur pants fast!!! i want something that will last me forever !!!!

If the 80 is that fast then you could beat the raptor I think because the raptor's only falt is the lack of a top end rush.raptor according to atv sport mag topped at 73 mph[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-frown.gif[/img] I kinda expected more when I saw that.

 

really well the thing is im scared of that bike and i really like quads now and i cant have fun on my little 250 so i need a new quad atvs are more fun to me ive been raised around atvs and thats y so im mainly on my quad just messin around on it(couldnt really do anything else on it) do u think there is any better quad than the raptor 700 for what im guna be doing?

 

i cant beleive you are basing your evidence of all honda quads are slow on your 250EX and pitting it against CR dirtbikes! think about it: 2 wheels vs 4wheels, nearly half the weight, twice the power (CRs), 2 stroke vs 4 stroke, shaft vs chain drive... ride a few more honda quads before you say all of them are slow.

as far as atvsport saying the raptor does 73 i think they are off - like they usually are. sad excuse for a magazine. no where near the ATVSPORT of the 90's. yamaha said it will do higher than that. [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif[/img]

back to original topic, dont think you would go wrong with either, just that the raptor might be a little better of a choice for trails and overall maintenance. 450s will require more oil changes, valve adjustments than the typical 4stroke. ride both though, its up to you and what you think you will do better on. the kfx is lighter, has all the features, its not a total bad choice.

however, if anyone knows, i do wonder how that all aluminum frame will hold up if you come around a corner and accidently graze a tree in the trails as opposed to the normal steel / alum combo frames like on the raptor. some weird, off axis hit from the a-arm to a tree may bend the alum on the kfx easier than the raptor??....
