Default 1999 Xplorer 400 Speedo/4wd problems

About a week ago I noticed my 4wd and speedo both went out since this summer. There is moisture in the speedo, maybe that is why it died? It has a digital odometer/hourmeter.

Anyway, I did change out the hub fluid on both sides before I realized there is a connection between the speedo unit and AWD. The AWD light does not come on, I checked the bulb, connections, and took apart and cleaned the switch.

So my question is if I buy a new speedo should the AWD start working again? I guess I would like to know before spending that much on a new one. Is there a way to test, or bypass the speedo before replacing it?

Thanks in advance for any help,

DD

there is a way to bypass the speedo and AWD will work like its supposed to. do a search on the forums for it and it should come up. if i remember correctly its something like unplugging one wire and grounding it or something very simple like that.. do the search it will come up with the directions.
