New 850 still down...........Venting
#1
Well if you saw the previous post about "killed the new 850 already" you will understand.
Was scheduled to pick the machine up last Friday from my dealer, then they called and said they needed to order a brake caliper bracket for it. I was not very happy to say the least, after having it for two weeks and me asking them to please check it over completely and order EVERYTHING they needed at one time. Well, I picked it up anyways, and decided to check it out myself.
So I pull it into the shop, pull all 4 wheels and proceed to look it over. Turns out I need all 4 brake caliper brackets and brake pads, plus there is oil leaking out of the front pinion seal due to excessive side to side play in the pinion bearing/shaft. Then I decide to "load" test it, well that wasn't good! In 4X4 low when hooked to a heavy or in this case immoveable object it will spin all 4 tires but with alot of clunking, slipping, gear wrenching noise. So now its back down to the dealer, its been another week and "they don't know anything yet"
On a side note......
The new wheels and tires look mean as hell!!! not sure if I like the extra width though 52.5 inches acros the back. Obviously I havent been able to ride it to see if it affects handling in a good way or a bad way. Sure looks good though, sitting there leaking oil and being un-rideable.........
OK, I feel a little better now.

Wow I'm really surprised to see so many people with problems on the new redesigned Polaris' machines..... it seems that everywhere I go I see/hear people with problems. I guess any new machine will have some problems but with the reliability of the last generation I didn't expect to see it....

Guess the old analogy not to buy anything the first year still stands
Wolf sorry about your misfortunes!

LOL...thats funny, most of the posts on the forums are people asking about problems with machines..not just the XPs..that is why you percieve it that way IMO. I can find alot of threads where guys are asking about problems with fairly new machines, and not just first year machines. The old style Polaris' and every other make and model made. The XP is just getting alot more attention than any previous machine.
Yes there are a few guys at most that I know of that have a real problem that they didn't contribute too.
Notice Wolf owned an old style POlaris, read above, even he said there is no comparison.
