New 850 still down...........Venting

The problem that you have with first year bikes and not just Polaris but the industry as a whole is the fact that first year machines do brake down more than second year ones do then you have the issue of parts availability which seems to be problem with Wolf's machine.
Trust me I think Polaris makes a great machine but the Grizz fits my need much better than the Sportsman does. Allmost all mfgs make good machines you need to find the one that fits you best and for me that is the Grizz and so far all it does is impress without fail!

I don't think the parts availability for the XP is yet to be a problem in general, and I don't think it is Wolf's problem either. Maybe some dealers don't have a stock built up for XPs yet,but that is there choice. Besides with as much stuff as Wolf broke I doubt a dealer would have had everything he needed for any machine. No dealer stocks every conceivable repair part.
I understand his frustration, the dealer did not check the machine over adequately and order everything needed the first time. Service problem, not first year machine problem.
Now if the dealer had to wait a month for a part, then you could say it was a first year machine parts availability problem.

Trust me I know all about availability for first year anytings esp in the automotive industy as that is what I do for a living ( chrysler parts) and I am positive it is as bad if not worse in the ATV industry. weather or not Wolf is having this problem has yet to be detrmined but rest assure no company has a surpluss of parts for first there year machines as they would not be able to keep up with the demand for a new machine esp one like the popular XP!

I hear ya and agree that most companies don't have a surplus of parts for 1st year machines..but what I said isn't that it isn't shown to be a problem(at least not yet, lol) on the XP.
Not sure if I agree it is worse in the ATV industry...the auto industry has alot more volume to deal with and logistics is alot more complicated IMO.
Later.

In 4X4 low when hooked to a heavy or in this case immoveable object it will spin all 4 tires but with alot of clunking, slipping, gear wrenching noise. So now its back down to the dealer, its been another week and "they don't know anything yet"</end quote></div>
Sorry to hear about your problems....but wouldn't what you did constitute abuse? Last time I checked no one's ATV's were built to do burn outs. I can understand why you heard "alot of clunking, slipping, gear wrenching noise."
I know that can't explain your other problems but...
Just my .02 worth.

No it wasn't abuse, just a test to see if replacing the broken front axle had fixed all the problems or just the obvious problem. The front diff seal was leaking prior to this test. I just wanted to be sure and find all the areas that needed attention before hauling it back to the dealer. So hopefully they can fix everything this time and I can ride it.
