if you are unsure what it is, you need to have a shop do it. Basically it is where you drill out the hole and re-thread it with a tap. Then you thread the "heli-coil" into the hole. It is kind of like a threaded bushing. The threads in the hole will now be the same size as it used to. In such a critical part as this and the large cost to replace it should something go wrong, i recommend having a professional do it.

Wasn't the 500 Foreman one of the quads that can have the chunk break off inside the case? or was that only the Rancher?

Yes, Ranchers and some other Hondas have a casting just above the drain plug inside the cases. Inspecting through the drain hole is a must before drilling or tapping. On these units, I will normally drill the drain plug and resize the factory 12mm drain plug to accept a 14mm drain plug. Another note is I use a bottoming tap when resizing drain plugs so to not damage internal parts or case flange castings inside the drain hole. I used to use TimeSerts but have steered away and have been making the hole size for a bigger drain plug. When doing this, the area around where the sealing washer sets may need to be increased around its girth with a dremmel.
Remember, drain plugs should only be tightened to 18 foot lbs to keep from further stripping
