Buying used parts??
#1
I was looking on Ebay at some used parts for a polaris 300 explorer and found one person that seemed to be selling his parts at a pretty fair price. Then tonight I found a person that just tore down a explorer 300 and it looks like he is asking almost 75% of new price on a lot of his parts . These parts where from a 1997 polaris explorer.
I know a person has a right to make money on their parts but to me that seems awlfull steep. I noticed he had a shock for an explorer that he wanted like $89.00 and you can get a new one for somewhere around $100 or even less.
Maybe I am wrong but I think beofre I would spend that kind of money on used I would just go ahead and buy new and get a warrenty with the part.
Is it pretty common for used ATV parts to be on the High side?

I feel ya......i remember when a guy could just go on ebay and buy ANYTHING he wanted and not have to worry about getting ripped off. Now you have to watch everything. And the way they word things sometimes can get you too. They will list a nice plow and everything and in the description they will just talk about that plow and nothing about a strait plow. then all the way on the bottome of the listing, they say in small writing, with but-it-now you get.......strait plow.......
anyways, sorry i just had to vent from a recent purchase off ebay! anyways, just watch for the part or parts you are looking for a little longer. Wait for the honest guy that is just trying get rid of some parts and not trying to make a huge profit! that is what the problem is. TOO MANY people ONLY make a living off ebay stuff! I mean, you can spend anywhere from $10 to over $200 more on ebay than even buying out of a catalog! Well, now that i talked you to death, good luck!

The Gorilla winch people screwed a buddy of mine really bad on an ebay deal. They used extremely deceptive wording in the ad that led him to believe the winch mount was included and then tried to charge him extra for it. When he decided that he didn't want to get hosed for the extra 50 bucks and declined to purchase what was deceptively advertised they whined to ebay and got a strike against his account.
I was within two days of picking up two winch packages from Gorilla (how appropriate is that name) and decided to not order them after seeing how they screwed my friend. Being deceptive and vindictive lost them the sale of two winches from me, one from my friend and 4 more from guys we ride with.

rule of thumb is never pay more than half of new including shipping.Unless you are looking for obsoleted parts and then you are at te sellers hand.
Also remember a lot of 250 parts interchange with the 300.
Here is a cross refferance site http://parts.polarisind.com/Browse/Browse.asp

exactly as said above. 1/2 the price of new if in good working condition. BUT its only worth what someone is willing to pay. i sold a pair of used tires with about 1/3 tread left with a starting price of .99 cents and the auction ended at over 60 bucks. ive also sold alot of things for only .99 cents that i thought would go for alot more.
just keep watchin and DONT bid more than your willing to pay. when you find what you are looking for think of your top price and dont go over. thare will always be more listings....
