Default unmatched tires on 4X4

Hello all!
I have a 2000 Big Bear 400 4Wd. I have a set of outlaw II mud tires that I want to put on the back wheels only for use in the sand. I believe they are 27 X 12-12 or 10. Anyways. Before I go the distance, will they be suitable for use in the sand?? being a 4X4 will it affect or damage the gearing, transaxles or drivetrain in any way?

Thanks to all forr the help..

Sincerely,

Eric S.

i have heard others say that big bears do not like bigger tires. my big bear has 25s on it and has the clearance for 27 or 28s. i say stick them on there and give it a ride and see how it responds.

I thought that on 4x4 quads you were suppose to run the same size tires all around.(height) And also, the sand really sucks power out of your machine. So will bigger tires, these two factors together will drain stupid amounts of power out of your ride.

makes sense to me. i have never ridden in any large amount of sand but im sure it is a power eater.

do not put 25s on front and 27s on back. you will put the drivetrain in a bind, possibly snap a drive shaft. either go 25s all the way around(dont matter how wide) or put 27s all the way around(again, dont matter how wide). obviously the larger tires will make the bike lose power. NOTE: some tires that measure for example, 26" can be the same size as some 27's. To make a long story short, i ordered 27's for miy bike and the fronts were 3/4 " smaller than the 27s for the rear. So i ordered 28s and the 27s were the same size as the 28s except the 28s had bigger lugs. so i just went with 28s all the way around. Always measure the tires with the same amount of air in them. the tires were/are swamplites.
