Default Predator Advice

OK polaris peoples. I just made a trade. I traded my 2000 Tailblazer 250 for a 2003 Predator 500. The guy wanted something automatic for his wife to ride. It is a little ugly cause he spray painted the plastics. I have already ordered new ones for it. Question is. Is there anything inherent that I need to look at or replace on this quad. Any KNOWN problems

Ouch man...You bought the worst year predator if you can get a trannsmission from an 04 because the 03's had issues...

I don't know. I had a stock '03 Pred for quite a while and didn't have any trouble with it. The only thing I didn't like was the lack of reverse, but that's a shortcoming that can be overcome.

I know the lack of reverse can be a pain. My actual goal for this quad is to fix the few things wrong with it....like ball joints and cosmetics and then put it up for a trade for a 4x4 quad.

I would be careful putting much into it as they aren't worth much right now, especially the 03's. As long as it runs good and you replace the plastics, clean it up, and you should be good to go.

That is what I was thinking also. I really need to repack the HMF muffler. This thing is so loud it can wake the dead.

Remember, loud pipes save lives! LOL! I always liked that slogan! My HMF is new and very loud! It may not need to be repacked......try adding a silencer. I bought a silencer with my pipe and it just slips in. It does quiet it down noticably. I think it costs around $20. Just a thought....
