2001 Kodiak 4x4 won't start???
#1
Got a 2001 Kodiak 4x4 that I have never had any problems with it not wanting to start. . .always fires right up first try. . .
It sat for about a month and a half and I went to go start it and it wouldn't start up. . .I figured the carb might be gummed/gas went bad so I pulled the carb off and I cleaned it really well. . .I checked the spark and I have spark also. . .I emptied the gas tank and put fresh gas in it and it still won't start. . .
I tried using starting fluid. . .squirt a little starting fluid in the carb and it fires right up, but it will only stay running for the few seconds that it's sucking starting fluid in. . .seems to me that I'm just not gettting any fuel through the carb. . .duh right. . .starts with starting fluid and then nothing. . .
Anyway. . .I pulled all the jets and I let them soak over night when I cleaned the carb and then I sprayed them and made sure that I didn't have any blockages so I don't think that's the problem. . .
If I disconnect the fuel line from the carb and open the fuel petcock I have flow of fuel so gas is leaving the tanks and I opened the float bowl drain and fuel drains from the drain line so I'm getting fuel into the float bowl. . .I just cant figure out why I can't seem to get fuel to the engine itself???
Any suggestions???
Thanks!

locate and clean your pilot jet. alot of people overlook it since it is not inside the bowl. unskrew it, noteing # of turns in/out it is, spray it and opening with carb cleaner. see if that helps.
you may also want to tighten any clamps in the intake. if you have an intake leak, the starter fluid may be enough extra fuel to temporally start the engine. just a thought

You might try checking the vent hose from the fuel tank cap. If it is clogged with mud or something else it won't let fuel into the carb. To confirm, take the gas tank lid off and try to start it again.
