Default 200DX valve guides

I am replacing the valve guides on my 88 YFM200DX becuase the engigne was smoking like a Memphis BBQ shack... the valve guides are bronze or brass and they came out a mess... I am asking if anyone has recommendations on what to put back in .. steel or bronze/brass vlave guides?
Thanks, Dave

Wow, good question. IMHO they both work fine.
The trick is to get the sizing correct. Make sure the machinest knows what he is doing.

Thanks.. I read in a different post that their machinst said they did not need to be reamed if new guides with new valves... but the T.O. says to ream them after installing them... so I left the comments form the book with the machine shop.. theyare suppose to be best in the area... so keeping my fingers crossed...

I wouldn't let him build me a lawn mower engine!!!

You ALWAYS need to ream guides and do a valve job. The guides will deform when you pound them home in the head.
