Default Winch wiring help

I need to know if anyone has any info. regarding wiring a Gorilla winch on my 97 Sportsman? Any help or reference material would be appreciated. I don't know much about wiring and the instructions are very poor. Thanks

should be 2 cables that run from bat. to the contacter(solnoide) and 2 cables that run to the winch and on the switch there should be a plug that hooks to the contacter. also should be a red wire that you need to find a hot wire in the light pod that is powered when the key is on. hope this helps.

dont know about the colors, but thier should be a back and red wire for the pos. and neg, on the battery. should be 2 longer cables for the winch to the contacter. these can go either way hookedd from the contacter to the winch but depending on which way you install them is to determin which way the rocker switch goes for winding the winch in and out. if not the way you want just reverse the 2 wires on the winch to make it go the other way as well. good luck.

Default Winch wiring help

I just installed a Gorilla 3000xt on my '08KQ400.

The two shorter cables go from the battery to the terminals of the relay (contactor) that are on the same side where the black and green wires exit the contactor. The green and black wires connect to the handlebar switch and wired remote.

The installation manual, as you noted, leaves a lot to be desired. Here is a link to the install manual at the Gorilla website: http://www.gorillawinches.com/...CBWinchManual4-08.pdf

Text is much lager and easier to see, and is in color. Page 7 shows a big pix of the relay and wiring--same pix as in the manual supplied with the winch, just much more legible.

Don't know about Polaris, but my KQ400 had a pre-drilled bracket for the relay behind the storage box under the left rear fender. Even came with a tube to feed the cables from the relay to the winch.
