I am trying to hook up a Pro Design kill switch to my Raptor. I called Tom at Pro Design and he wasn't sure on the Raptor but on the 400ex you hook it to the pulse wire from the stator. I tried but could not locate the pulsing wire on my Raptor. I don't have my service manual yet,it is on order. My question is if I hook it to the positive wire on the coil will it burn up the coil? I grounded the pos. wire on the coil and it does kill it but I am concerned about the coil? Does anyone know or have a manual with a wire diagram to show which wire coming from the stator to ground? Trying to get it hooked up before next weekend for a harescramble. Thanks

just tap it into your factory bar mounted kill switch wires, one is black and one is black with a white stripe

dsEATER,
How do you tap into the wires and make it work? The factory kill switch breaks the contact to kill the engine, the Pro design makes contact when the tether is pulled off? I may have to hook it to the coil for now until I get my service manual and hope it doesn't burn anything up.

I don't know about raptors, but on a blaster I just removed the key switch and connected the two wires from that to the pro design tether. The key switch does as much as the run switch on a blaster. On a raptor, if you used the key wires, it would kill everything, including the lights.

Try hooking it into the parkbrake rev-limitor part of the TORS system. It wont kill the bike but it will cut the throttle to an idle. Works OK on my banshee. You should also be able to tap into your main power wire at your key and hook the other side of the switch to a ground. When you pull the switch it should ground out and shut everything off.

I don't see how you can take a main power wire and ground it without blowing a fuse of smoking the wires. I would like to find the pulsing wire that Tom talked about, but I found three wires on my Raptor that pulse when cranking the engine. I tried grounding them one at a time but it did not kill it, I didn't want to ground all three at the same time so I still don't know what to do. My service manual is shipped so maybe it will get here soon. Do the factory manuals have very good wiring diagrams in them?

The yamaha manuals have fairly good diagrams, its been a while since I looked at the electrical system, but I believe the stock kill switch just dumps electrical load into the frame, this is why I had suggested it.

The stock kill switch on my Raptor opens the circuit when it is turned to the off position. that is the problem with hooking the Pro Design to it as the Pro Design closes the circuit when the tether is pulled off.

Something tells me the Raptor circuitry design is kinda wonky Off of your CDI unit should be a Black/White wire, this should go into your stock kill switch (the one on the left side of the handle bar, not your key switch) if you ground this wire your engine should stop. This should cut the power from the posative coil wire. I believe there is a bypass switch in the CDI that stops any shock from happening to the coil. The pulse wire that was mentioned earlier should be either a Red or Green wire, it is one of the wires that goes into the CDI, your lighting system should NOT go into your CDI so just look and see which wires go to the CDI.. Wait and get your manual, no sense frying stuff if its gonna be here anyday now.. Check the wire diagram and then lemme know if im right\wrong as I am now thoroughly intreaged!!
