325 Magnum Front End Not Level - Strut or Spring? Help!
#1
I have a 2002 Polaris 325 Magnum 4x4 and need help with leveling the front end. I noticed that the front of the machine was tilting towards the left. Both struts were within the strut sockets in the same location (basically all the way down, which is where I believe they should be). In order to level the front of the ATV, I needed to pull the left strut out of the strut socket almost 2 inches (which increased the height of that side of the vehicle thus leveling off the front end). However, I don't think that is the solution as it could weaken the strut since it's pulled out so much higher in the socket. Here's some pics:

Note the left side strut location and the right side strut location within the sockets. They are not even (not in the same location) now although the ATV now sits level.
What needs to be done here? Here's my thought: Could the left spring be bad??? If I were to replace the left spring, it could possibly create more lift, making the ATV higher on the left side, which would allow the strut to be lowered within the strut socket in it's correct position (all the way down).
Or is the left strut bad??? Not sure if the strut provides upward support or if the spring provides the upward force necessary to keep the ATV level.
Or is my solution of raising the strut out of the strut socket safe???
Additionally, I have not seen any fluid leaking from the strut, but that doesn't mean it hasn't leaked (and I just missed it).
Any thoughts you guys have would be appreciated...thanks!

Welcome to the form Peelaris. The struts have to be fully seated in the housing to work right. IMO you shoudn't be able to lift it up like that either. I think the strut is shot.
