Default Indy 500 engine problem

Alrite, I was driving my sled , which is a 2000 indy 500, n i was following my dad n my engine started to bog n couldnt climb over 40mph even when it was pinned. It started to act up when i was on the trail for an hour or so. N then i would shut it off n wait a couple of minutes. Then started it back up n then i would have full power for awhile until it started to act up again. When we got home we sprayed carb cleaner by the crank seals n the whole engine started to bog down and almost clunk out. N then we just let it sit for now
Anybody got any ideas whats wrong with it?

Sounds like your found the problem, if you spray carb cleaner near the crank seals and the motor runs different, you have a vacuum leak at the crank seal, that is why it runs good cold, when it warms up, you start sucking air, and lean out. Replace those seals, or soon you will be replacing melted pistons.

Or -- You already may be experiencing "engine seizure" - When the pistons expand due to running too lean (as in too hot), the friction will slow down the rpms - when the pistons cool and "shrink", off you go until they get too hot again.

pull out your pliugs and take a look at them and tell us what they look like and we can go from there. if you sparayed starting fluid near the crank seals and the engine reved up then i would say you have a bad crank seal. maybe the carbs are dirty as well since you said ran good for a while. theres a whole list of probelms it good be so start simple.
