while triing to push snow the 4x4 will come in and out, backing up the 4wheels work fine just wondering what black box is up front that would cause this?

Sounds more like a hub problem. When was the last time the oil was changed in them and/or wheel bearings adjusted?

no a guy did a test on it and said it failed a safe test or some thing and that it was a black box that needed to be replaced. do you know what box he would be talking about?

its called front hub engagement limiter on mine its the lr83/lr44 module located under the front cover.you might first want to make sure there is enough fluid+ no play in the bearings.

Hey fast, I looked in the service book and it is not showing anything like a black box. All I see is the "awd hub coils". then you have the CDI, Rev Limiter and Reg/Recti. so they may be talking about the coils not passing or breaking down......
