Default Polaris 95 Magum 425 ATV/ Tacoma Question

Hi. Just purchased a 1998 Toyota Tacoma X-cab pick up. I also own a 1995 Polaris 425 Magnum ATV. I measured the distance between the wheel wells of the pickup 42" . The ATV wheel base is 46" wide. What ideas are there in trying to load this into my truck. I heard of building a ramp for the front tires to sit higher then the back. Will the tailgate hold the weight of the ATV. Any info woudl be greatly appreciated.

Default Polaris 95 Magum 425 ATV/ Tacoma Question

I had a similar issue with my sportsman in my Chevy Colorado quad-cab. Bed length isn't an issue, as the quad will sit on the tailgate just fine. I didn't like trying to squeeze between the wheel wells (your fit is even tighter than mine). I also don't like the idea of ramping it up over the wheel wells... sure, it probably won't go anywhere, especially if tied down, but I'd never feel comfortable with it being up so high. Some guys just drive right over them so the quad will "straddle" the wheel wells, but in my case they're so far forward that there's not much room in front of them before you hit the front of the bed. I gave up and got an old flat snowmobile trailer.

I made a ramp out of 2x8's. Had the same issue with my Ranger. Starts at the wheel well, and goes to the front of the bed. Raised it at just the right angle so the wheels hit the back bed wall, and the bumper is away from the back window.

Used to have a picture of it somewhere, but I can't find it on the computer here at work.

Pretty simple to make, and think it cost about 20 bucks for the wood and screws.

If you wanted to haul a 4wheeler you should have got a REAL truck as in a full size.

Well lets see I owned a 1997 tacoma, purchased it for $4,100. It failed the Toyota frame inspection and they wrote me a check for $13,350. Then I purchased a 1996 that was a piece of crap. Leaked oil, rear end leaked worse. I paid $2,890. Toyota inspected and failed it and wrote me a check for $10,890. I purchased the 98 Tacoma for $6500 but it has passed the frame inpsection. I have a 15 year warranty on the frame so maybe just maybe my next check is almost in the mail. You can purchase your full size trucks. I'll stick with my little 4 cyl. money making, 5 more year warranty, tacoma and build a $20 ramp.

LOL! That's awesome. My little truck hasn't made me any money, but I like it just the same. Never needed a full-size for anything (other than hauling a full-size quad, apparently).

240k+ on my Ranger. It's seen 3 full size trucks come and go at our house.
