Default Glacier 2 plow mount

I bent mine up already, less than a month of plowing. Going at a decent clip pushing 6 inches worth of snow up about 50 foot, so had to keep speed going (icey once I get going past side of garage). I ended up finding the hard snow on the edge of my plow path and came to a dead stop. Didn't notice anything with the plow right away till few more swipes and hit's into the bank, the plow was looking all loose. Wobbling back and forth.

So checked it and sure enough the mount was bent down, 2 main bolts in the very front are loosened and the 2 smaller ones that are close together are long gone. Back center one still there and tight. So got a relative that's been in welding career for years now to save the mount and reinforce it for me. It's still shiny it's so new so don't feel like tossing it so fast.

Anyone that has reinforced them, I've seen the pics from when someone posted them and looks very clean. Also saw others brought this guys pictures to there local welder and they liked it and did the same.

Is reinforcing these going to put a bunch of extra strain on the frame of the quad? I know I'd rather have the mount let go long before the frame, but just curious. I don't clock one edge of the plow on anything on purpose but it does happen since my plow line isn't that wide and I have a slight turn to get into it. Plow does catch that point now and then.

I got a 08 800 so, with it's 750lb dryweight, I'm willing to bet it's frame isn't going to budge. But just in case, could be the one center bolt will get way to much stress and take out something right there? Or cam I gonna just have to ram something good 50+ to even think I'm going to break the frame before the plow or any of it's mounting points/

I think the guys that reinforced the mount are doing fine. I doubt that the frame would give away before the mount... even if the mount was reinforced. I'll probably reinforce mine to be on the safe side.

Mine is reinforced. I have plowed for about 8 hours this winter and no problem. I am not concerned about the frame. Polaris frames are the strongest there is imo. My dealer welded 2 plates together so now mine is twice as thick as a stock one. Good luck to ya.

Bought what I thought but thought I'd atleast ask. We started reinforcing mine with couple round tubes but he ran out of some welding wire so finish it up tomorrow and go get it powder coated.

I'm on my second frame in less than 4 months. Three days of plowing fluff and the bolt in the brush frame loose and the self tap bolts to the frame fell out which the dealer tech found laying on the frame when we looked at it. Polaris blame me cause I took of the frame off to straighten it. Polaris is using self tap bolts to the frame, dumb asses! I'm sueing! The dealer took my advice to replace the 2 self taps with real bolts, lock washers and nuts. Duh! But that doesn't change the fact that Polaris void my warranty cause I try to fix it myself instead of letting in set in the shop for who knows how long in the middle of a Michigan winter. So now I'm setting with a driveway plugged with snow, and my quad is still setting in the dealers shop waiting for a decision from Polaris on repaying me the $508.33. You might want to check and see if your frame is bent. Mine did a little, but I didn't fight it cause I needed my plow. I'm a disable Vietnam Vet, I went with Polaris in stead of rice. The quad rides nice for my condession, the plow is fine but the frame SUCKS.

The problem is mainly the crappy weak self tape bolts to the lower main frame. The 2 bolts in the brush guard frame was meant to carry the whole load, they are hight adjustment bolts. I'll have to get a photo of the first frame thats setting under my deck. reinforcing is a good idea but wait til you warranty is up. Take the lower main frame self taps out and replace them with harden bolts, lock washers, and nuts would be a better idea than Polaris's.

I got it reinforced not long after my last post. Went to put it back on and the brush gaurd (the part front 2 main bolts bolt too) was back about 1" or little more : /. But not more than the length of the bolts so I put them on and tighten it down. The side I originally hit on, because I kept using it not realizing the mount bent, it pulled the whole brush gaurd back a little. So as of now I will have to replace that whole front part some point, which luckily is only 100 bucks (lot less than I feared, its a large peace). That thing bent so much at one point that I see it touched top of the radiator! I wasn't being that easy on it as I didn't realize it wasn't bolted to the actual frame. My polaris buddy (he works at the dealer I bought it from) said I'm just an idiot going to fast as out of all the ones he's put on I'm the only one to bend one. I bent both of my plow mounts. I was also told I needed to go easier and push the snow, not ram it! LOL! I reinforced them with some 1" steel. They won't bend now, the frame might though! LOL! I started thinking about the times I was going at a good click and caught something with the plow, no wonder I bent them. Then I remembered how often you break things with a plow on a pickup truck from going too fast or moving too much snow. So, it stands to reason, if we don't gently push the snow out of the way and not try to move mountains of snow at a time we will avoid breaking things. The hard part is that the 800 will move mountains of snow! LMAO!

God will it ever. Only thing that stops it is solid ice I cant stand on (WHILE pushing a lot of snow), or when that plow catches something. I stopped plowing next to the garage since it got to narrow and it's rained so that snow is worse than concrete and catches plow overtime i go over there.

When got 8+" of over night snow to move, you don't exaclty get away with moving slow...

Just got home from the dealer, they took my advice and replaced the to 2 crappy seft taps and used real nuts and bolts with a hint of Loc Tight. I think this will fix the problem. Now it's up to Polaris to rethink this set up, and stop blowing smoke up or asses and blaming the problem on the user.
