Glacier 2 plow mount
#21
Distributing force sounds better than the Glacier 2 design. I will probably switch between bucket and blade just twice a year, so ease of connecting attachments is not a top priority.
I drop the Glacier plow often because clearance really sucks with it on.
My '04 has a solid rear axel and trailer hitch receiver attached to the rear end.

Will that interfer with the Swisher mount?
Are there any other plows out there can push a lot of weight and take some hits?

I have an '04 500 HO ATP that came with a plow. How do I know if I have a Glacier I or Glacier II? Glacier I mounts cost a little less that Glacier II. Buying a new mount and reinforcing it will cost a lot less than a Swisher system.

Hey SS
You not alone in this, even though Polaris is ignoring the proplem, and laying the blame on the customer. I'm on my second frame and brush guard. Polaris refuse to warrant the frame and guard cause I remove the frame to straighten it. Instead of sending it to the dealer shop for who knows how long. While my drive filled with snow. So when I finally did get it in the shop to put on a new frame and brush guard that I had to pay out of pocket. So twice I've been snowed in for the second time this winter. Because the new frame that was replace was falling off after 3 days of plowing fluff. So I wasn't about make the same mistake and void my warranty again. But I believe the problem starts with the useless self tap bolt that hold the plow frame to the quad frame. But after discussing this cheap self tap bolt problem. At my request my dealer replaced the crap self taps with nuts and bolts and Loc-Tite. Haven't been able to test it cause the snow is melting and the driveway is thawing and I'd be plowing mud. But I do believe that the nuts and bolts is a much strong set up. I did try today to skim the wet heavy crap, and the frame is still tight. And according the the installation instruction all the bolts need to be check and tighten if need be after a 1/2hr. of plowing. Also that plowing shouldn't exceed 5mph. My dealer is passing on my idea of the nuts and bolts, and the address of this web site. And try to get Polaris to pay for my lose of cash to replace the first frame and brush guard. Reinforcing the frame plate seem to be a good idea also but not on a warranted frame and brush guard. So if the waranty has expired it would probly be the time to try reinforcing the plate, could be a good idea. Polaris is just try to pass the buck of their crappy engineering, and blaming the customers to refusing warranting the problem. I think Polaris needs to hirer new engineers with a bit of commen sense. And like you said I love my quad but the plow frame is a different story. I was told I had bought the best plow package. But it's looking like I bought a powered puff package.
Good luck,
Doug

I am about to buy an 850 xp. Is your issue with the xp or the mount or both. Is the quad frame strong enough or is it lack of frame to attach to? I have an 05 800 that is attached like the glacier 1. Are there any problems with the xp and glacier 1 mount? I am concerned when you guys start talking about the quad itself being damaged. If the glacier 1 was mounted would the quad be damaged plowing like a normal person plows. I use mine to push snow as a side job and if there is that much trouble finding strong enough attachment points to the quad should I just stay with mt 05 800? It is bulletproof. Thanks.

noooooo, is the answer, No probs with the G2 on Xp's. Buy An XP and a G2 and you will love it. I do commercial snow plowing with mine. Just finished storm 8 with mine. 100 accounts thats more than 800 sidewalks some drives. I rarely go under 5 mph. I've hit stuff that made the quad stop but not me. OUCH!! The XP mount is DIFFERENT from the other machines. NO self tappers used here all bolts with nuts and pretty heavy ones too.

Both the mount and frame are pretty bent up from last weekend. I need a plow that is tougher than a Glacier because I don't just use it for snow. I need a blade that can push dirt and wood around too.
I researched American Eagle, Moose, and Swisher. Based on #1 design and #2 price, I chose the American Eagle. THEN I learned they are built a short distance from my house in Minnesota. Sold! It should be here tomorrow.
If anyone's interested, I can post pics of the install in a separate thread.
