You should never need to run a cleaner in your machine, it won't ever see enough pulses in a machines lifetime to need a cleaning.

I use the Polaris Carbon Clean. Came with the fluid change kit so I figured I'd use it. I use Lucas in the cars and trucks.

I don't have EFI and I still run Lucas Fuel Treatment in every tankful. I would do the same thing if I had EFI. You never know the quality of gas you are getting. The Lucas stuff will keep the entire fuel system clean, and lubricate the top cylinder.

I wouldn't use a strong additive on a regular basis. I plan on running some Sea Foam (recommended in this forum) once or twice a year for a stronger cleaning.

I use a little Seafoam or Lucas occasionally as a preventitive measure...doesn't hurt a thing. It isn't a miracle fix for a poorly maintained machine but with the crap I have seen come out of my vehicles fuel filters if they can help keep it a little cleaner it's reason enough for me...todays gasolines are not as clean as you would think. Not to mention it helps keep the carbon build up in the combustion chamber under control. Important on a machine that spends alot of time idling and at lower RPMs like mine
Luckily they put an inline fuel filter on the XP...

As Dave said, the Seafoam is more of a cleaner and the Lucas a mild cleaner but more of a lubricant...

Seafoam is good practice for keeping the fuel fresh in the off season and does lubricate the injector.

seafoam all the way!!! took a small engines class and the instructor used all the hardware store products. seafoam made the most improvement to fuel injector preformance by 20% over the next best treatment (said the diagnostic computer) so that is what i use and recomend for a cleaner in all engines

Seafoam sounds like great stuff. I should get some too. Do they have it practically everywhere like STP and Sta-Bil?

HighOctane mentioned a fuel filter..... is there a fuel filter on the XP's that need to be cleaned? I suspect it doesn't take much to clog an injector.

I picked up a can at AutoZone for 9.50 or something like that. Then I saw it at Wally World for around 6.50. Picked up two more cans... one for my son.
