Ever get stopped for riding 2 up?
#1
I want the 850 but there are times when my wife would rather ride behind me than on her 500. How many have been stopped or ticketed for riding 2 up on a quad not built for 2?
I talked to several dealers today and they all say the Sportman and Outdoor Show next weekend will have bigger discounts than they can give today, maybe by then I can decide.

didnt get a second glance from cops for rideing 3 up, and never told anything in the parks i go to. i would think if you got a nice padded backrest it looks alot better than someone rideing on the back rack....but depends on where you live

i would check w/ local laws but ive never heard of any one getting ticket for riding double. the mgf just put the no riders signs on (like w/ sled too) to protect thier but from ebing sued.

In NC and many other states you can be fined..some places enforce it others not so much..around here you only have to worry on Federal property, such as the National Forrests..I've not heard of anyone actually getting cited but they will stop you and correct you at least..
Here is some good basic info on the different states' laws:

cherokee99 is correct on the "where you live" part...Here in Iowa, it is a one way ticket to a $129.00 fine! While in Minnesota or Wisconsin the DNR officers could care less!
At a Minnesota ride this last summer we saw a teenage girl, (maybe 15) giving rides to as many as 3 other little kids at a time while the Minnesota DNR officer stood there handing out noise tickets to several sport quad riders!!!
While on several Wisconsin rides, one-up bikes with passenger seat boxes and two riders was the norm!

At the parks where I ride you will get a ticket and booted out. On gravel roads and forest areas you'll get a ticket just for being there.
There are a few places that a small group of us ride that technically is illegal to ride but local law enforcement knows who we are and knows that we ride with respect and common sense so they don't bother us, even riding double....as others have said, it depends on where you live/ride and to a point it depends on who ya know.

In Missouri it is against the law to ride two up unless it is built for two, but it all depends on where you are as to how much it is enforced. Where I live it is illegal to ride on the roads, but everyone does it; you just have to know your area and above all else to ride responsibly, no use drawing attention to yourself.

i livein Il, but have ridden in iowa. mostly if you are rideing 2up on the street they will try and bust you. but where i live i ride on the street in the winter and the cops dont want an accident, agean, so they will not chase people on ATVs or snowmobiles. but if you are where your "suppose" to be noone will bother you.
