Default 450 Kodiac - lost engine braking

I fellow I know has a 2006 Kodiac 450 and one day trail riding he lost the engine breaking ablity in the CVT So now it just free wheels when you slow down etc.

Is this somethign that happens on Yamaha's and if so what the fix?

thanx

Has he had it buried in mud or swamped with water? I am guessing that there is some problem with the clutch system.

honestly none are "typical" failures. check clutch plates and weights if they are gunged up

I was thinking that if it had been filled with mud and water, you might need to clean and regrease everything. I wouldn't think any part typically fails on a quad that new. Might be time to open it up and look.
