Yamaha Grizzly 600 loud whine in front end arms
#1
When I move my grizz even a couple of inches back and forth (not running), there is a whine in the front end near the wheel arms. The whine is not constant but is making me a little concerned. It seems to go away at higher speeds but as soon as I slow down it is there again. I am wondering if the bearings need to be changed in the front end or if there is a way to grease an area to stop the whining? Help please.

it could be. i just did front pads on my grizzly i would take the tires off in check them for slack maybe?
i got a 2001 and it dont make any noise, its got 3000 miles on it , but i dont know if they ever been replace , i just got it second hand.
i'am sure its a sealed bearing.

no i dont think its the pads , im saying that if you take the front wheels off you might get a better look at what it might be ,, are you sure you dont have the brake dust sheild rubbing agaist it ?
it weird that it makes the noise then just pushing it a couple of inches.
does your bike have a rear drum brake btw?
i got a question for you if you do.
and have you ever had the rear brake drum off it.?

I noticed the noise before I changed the brakes and it has gotten worse since the braked were changed. I will take the advice and take the wheels off and turn axle to see if I can find the problem. I do have rear drum brakes and have changed them before about a year and a half ago but the sound is definately coming from the front end?

on my 2001 grizzly 600 4x4 on the rear brakes theres a big ring does it slip over the brake drum?
or does the ring go on the inside of the drum ?
do you have a pic of the rear drum as it is on your bike?
that part is back order PN#5GT-25336-00-00,,i'am wondering if i really need this part?
my bike i got it with no rear brakes at all.
i hope you can locate the noise on your bike , let us know your findings

I honestly do not remember but I have a manual at home that I will check for the ring. The ring sounds like a seal for the drum which you probably do not want to go without.
