Default sidewinder chain and sprocket

well i broke down and got the sidewinder set up. Ti-moly sprockets and the smart chain 520 conversion. first trip out at glamis, the rear sprocket bends for no reason. first day we got there, actually first night. we got there a little after sunset, unloaded went on a night ride, got a few miles away from camp and the chain comes off. adjusted it and tried again and came off. looked at the sprocket and it is bent bad. any one have the 520 conversion? any luck with it? sidewinder wont warranty the sprocket, they said we are full of it, it must have been in a crash...what a HUGE waste of money.

who makes a rear sprocket that is larger the a 40 tooth? think i have a 45. 530, going back to stock now....

Are you running a swingarm skid that protects the sprocket/rotor? Did you run a rock or something over? Cant see it being bent that bad and not seeing it before putting it on. I run the same 520 Ti-Moly/Smart Chain set up on my 855 with no problems.

Check out WOODS , SPROCKET SPEACIALISTS , or PBI

didnt hit anything. was just cruising since it was the first ride of the trip and it was night. i do have the stock baja skid. there was no reason for it to bend that i know of. i broke in the chain as per directions and adjusted it before we left. i have no clue why it bent.

Just taking some shots in the dark, was the sprocket torqued to spec? Are the front/rear sprockets aligned right? Would need to see a pic to see how its bent to make a better guess.

i didnt torqued them to spec, but they werent loose. the sprockets are aligned. i cant get pics now. im at college now and i didnt take the sprockets off before i left. dont know when i can get pics. the sprocket bent pretty bad in one spot. there is like 5 teeth that bent sideways. if i remember right thats all that bent, was just the teeth in that one spot.

WOW ! I run Spocket Spec 44 tooh no problem with a 15 counter Woods 520 DID-X chain, many trips to the dunes, only thing I can think of was how tight was that chain?

Same here, I have a rear TiMoly sprocket, front Woods, and RK Gold X-ring chain and haven't had any stretching or other issues at all to date. And that's after at least 8-10 hard dune trips.

I ran the sidewinder Timoly everything for 2yrs and rode the **** out of it and had zero issues with it.. Maybe try a different combo, something else may be wrong to make them bend.

the chain wasnt too tight, it had around 1in of play when i sat on the bike. all i hear is good stuff about the 520 conversions and sidewinder, but they are kinda hard to trust now. after puttin down 500 bucks on a chain and sprocket setup and havin it break first trip out for no reason makes them hard to trust. i want to try another 520 sprocket, but im afraid it will do the same thing. i was hoping some one would think of something to make this happen. i'll wait awhile and see what others have to say cause to my knowledge and everything said so far, it was installed correctly.
