Default 07 Rancher 420 wiring

Just got a great deal on a new left over 07 TRX420 Rancher. Ordered a Gorrilla winch and mount. My question is, when we put the same winch on our 06 Suzuki Eiger, all the winch wiring was already in place, with a place above the storage box in the back for the relay etc.. The only wiring we had to run was the switch on the handlebars for up and down. Does the Honda have this wiring already in place also, or will I have to run all new. Any input is appreciated.

Nope, your going to do all the wiring your self, good luck! Honda don't come with factory winch wires.

I have the 07 rancher 4x4 as well. i installed a winch on mine as well as Amuro. honda didnt wire the machine for a winch, however there is plenty of room underneath the black plastic piece that hides the battery for your relay. the only thing i had a problem with was finding power other than hooking it directly to the battery. someone said there is a "plug in" under the front of the machine somewhere under the plastic near the handlebars. you have to purchase the other end of the plug in from honda. BUT i havent found my plug in yet. good luck with it.

Thanks for the imput, the new winch and mounting plate is supposed to be here Monday. I'll look for the black plastic piece near the battery. Thanks again.

I install the relay under/the front plastic ( its high up and less to get wet) but gorilla winch you got I think comes with all the wires you need to hook it up, cables to battery and relay, and cables to relay and winch post. It took me a while to install mines but I'm glad I got one! I also order another Viper Max 3000lb for my friends 08 420, I'll also be installing his when it comes in.

I mounted a WARN25 on my 2007 Rancher and it was a lot easier than I expected. I mounted the "contactor" in the area under the black plastic piece in the rear. I used small bolts to mount it to the rear wall of the storage bin in the back. I had to drill one mounting hole. The wiring from the winch I ran down the left side of the frame to the contactor. For the switch that mounts on the handlebar I tapped into my 12V accessory outlet - that way my winch only has power when the key is turned on. I have pictures of the install I can post if you need them. Let me know. Good luck.

Yeah, I really think tapping the accessory wire is a better idea than tapping the ignition key. The accessory circuit is fused, and not critical for the machine to run (should something ever short out).
