hey guys starting to warm up a little and i wanna get my shopping list together and on their way, need some reccomendations etc.

First my carb leaks like a siv when i let it sit with the gas on it drips non stop, and when i shut off it still drips just not as bad, the only way i can get it to stop dripping is to shut the fuel off and let it run out, im thinking of replacing it with a TM45 is this a direct swap? can i retain thumb throttle? how bad is it to tune? is it a worth mod for a mostly stock quad?

can the later model headlight be fit into the 01? i like the looks of it better, what is needed to do the swap if its possible

third im going to be purchasing a cdi, is the one on ebay anygood? i would like one that has a rev limit as im not the only one who rides my quad

Third does anyone make a different taillight for the ds? something bright and maybe led?

fourth
anyone on here have any of the trial techs (vapor or endurance) i was thinking of purchasing this instead of doing the oem tach as it does more stuff that i would like to monitor, speed, coolant temp etc

last but not least
how bad is it to retro fit the baja lower lights onto the older models, and does anyone sell a kit?

Carb for sure there a great idea. The headlight you can do but the new ones are a big chunk of change. I bought a Big gun cdi off ebay and its been great, the procoms ones are touch and go, not really worth the risk. As for a taillight i went to a truck stop and bought a LED trailer light. Its a clearance/brake light and it works awsome and is really bright. Just have to splice the three wires not a big deal.

 

Headlight - well worth changing up to the 2005 and later version. Pretty sure if you do a search on here there are instructions on what to order and how to do the conversion. I did mine a year ago and love it.

Rev box - I run a Ron Woods and have so for over 5 years with no problems. I also have a few buddies with the Big Gun boxes bought off e-bay and they work great as well - little cheaper too.

Taillight - I bought a motorcycle taillight from Dennis Kirk - cool looking skull and crossbones - think it has 40 l.e.d.s in it - nice and bright and if I remember it was only 25 bucks.

Extra lights - The baja lights are quite expensive - I just bought a set from my local parts store - put in a set of Piaa bulbs and mounted them up on my rad shrouds - work great and the extra light for night ridding is top notch. I wired them right to the battery and threw an extra switch in for them on the dash.

Carb - Well worth the upgrade - I run a Lectron that was purchased from Eric at OMW Racing - Well worth the money - hugh gains in power.

i also used light's from the local auto part's store suprisingly the cheapest and smallest were the brightest. made a world of difference at night , i wired them to work with my high beam's , now i don't need to worry about changing the headlight. as far as the carb goes, i would not hesitate to upgrade, 45, to 46, will work fine . i have the tm 48 , and love it

 

your carb will leak if its tipped to far to one side from when u install it into the boot, loosen the clamp and move it a lil bit. and the TM45 is a pain to tune, least it was for me, i never had it right
