2001 350 hi-perf mods?
#1
I bought a new 2001 honda 350 es last august and it was fine for a while but now i have a couple problems.
1) i livein new brunswick in canada and any time i go biking in the cold (like maybe +2 degrees celsius and under) it will quit on me if i let off the throttle at all. why?
2) im 15 and im 220lbs. i feel the bike needs more power - over the whole band - how can i get this? what pipes bores kits ect. would you reccomend?
3)i need new skins. What would you guys reccomend? Bearclaws, Mudbugs, or Titan 589's?
Any help would be great, Thanks guys!

1) I have no idea why your bike quits on you. Maybe the throttle speed is set to low. try bumping up the idle.
2) As far as pipes go i think there are only three out. I may be wrong. they are the supertrapp, Big Gun and FMF. I have no experiance with pipes but hear they are worth the money. I'm wanting White Bros. to build and E-Series for the rancher b-4 i dive into a pipe. Jet kits are a must with a pipe and K&N's are benifitial. There are a couple fellas on another forum with big bore kits installed and they seem to be very pleased.
3)As far as skins i recommend the Bearclaws for general riding (hard pack, mud, rocks, trail, etc.) If your going to do more mudding than trailing then i say go for the Mugbugs. The 589's are also good but I think the bugs are better IMHO.
Hope i helped ya a little

Big Gun makes a Rancher pipe? Cool. I know the SuperTrapp is a good exhaust; a friend of mine had one on his 300EX. They will give you 3 or 4 more HP, but the gain is noticable. You will have to rejet it correctly though, or you will have a power loss. A pipe, K&N, and jet kit could add up to 5 or 6 more HP.
Cartman308 is right. You should try bumping your idle up a little. If it's the same as our quads, pry the little plastic cap off the throttle cable, where it goes into the thumb throttle housing, and twist it one way or the other. That's the way it is on my Xpress 300, Banshee, and 250R. The Sportsman's idler is under the seat, next to the motor. Check your owners manual to be sure.
Again, Cartman308 is right. Bearclaws make a good all around tires, but the 589's are a step up. They work better in mud, but you will sacrafice weight. I also think that Mud-Bugs are the way to go. There's a guy down the road from me that has Bugs, and he can crawl right through places another Sportsman with Swampers just spins.

If a pipe, filter, and a jetting change is going to give him 5 - 6 hp, then I'll drive down to Texas and kiss your choice of butt cheek!
No way. It's going to add about 1 1/2 hp at the most. It will be noticeable as it will rev faster and have better throttle response though. Big "NO" on the dynojet kit. Just go to your local shop and buy new jets for your machine.
And yes, you need to raise your idle screw.
