What that button over ride?

 

turns off the reverse rev limiter so you can have 4wd and full speed in reverse.[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif[/img]

 

could also be the same button to navigate your speedometer display. But not sure about your model.
In our Sportsmans that yellow button has two functions.

Since this things speedo is all mechanical, I guess I'll go with door number 1, Full speed backards. Yikes.

 

I unhook all them so I can back up.If you change clutching you have to use it just to move in reverse.

 

You must push the override button to have 4WD in reverse on a Polaris. Except for the 2009 550-850 XP's . The XP's stay in 4WD when you shift to reverse. The override is just to disable the rev limiter.

 

just a question on rev limiter. Is this a pure electronic thing eg plays with the spark or is it mechanical?

 

its a electronic limiter. you can by pass it. the override button is used to navigate the speedo pod only on the newer bikes like from 05 and up i beleave.

 

Lets see if I remember all this now.
On this 98
Left handle bar has Lights, Start button, Kill switch, and over ride button.
On the right its throttle and 4X4 Button.
So 4X4 stays on in reverse?????\
Also a shift lever on the right by knee with Reverse and Hi and Lo forwards.

 

4x4 off in R unless hit override. Then get full speed & 4x4.
