belts, how long do they last on average
#1
I just put a belt on my 800 sportsman 2 mths ago (pure polaris),maybe put on 300 miles. I live in Northern Alberta,Canada and I have been riding allot of snow/ice. infact allot of spinning on the river we ride, more like 40 mile/hr drifting. Also some deep trails.
Could have blown because all the wheel spinning, but I just want to get some others opinions on how long they last and if this is the best belt to buy? Love to get some feed back from other riders, seems to be premature in my opinion.
Perhaps I need to do something else?
Thanks for reading and look forward to your response!

The belt will last a long time, if you ride like your owner manual tells you too meaning if your in a low torque, low speed situation to use low gear if you are cruising over 20MPH to use Hi gear! Basically use common sense at it should last a long time! I had my 04 600 with 3000 miles on when sold it and mine still looked like brand new!

another thing that will blow a belt os the vents on the CVT stopping up with mud, snow,or the famous mouse nest

I have seen belts that have blown with relatively low mileage after repeatedly left in gear while idling for extended periods! One rider in our group had this bad habit till he went through two belts in less then 1000 miles...he was wearing spots into the belt where it would rub against the primary sheaves during idle, heat the belt and next thing you know he needed a tow! Finally learned his lesson and turns off his bike when he sites and gabs! We still take a lot of grief from the non Polaris riders in the group!
