Default xplorer 300 ???

I just bought a 96 xplorer 300 fan cool..My buddy needed money so i bought it..Doesn't seem like a very fast machine nor stable. Can anyone give me an idea how fast this thing should be, figure 2 stroke should fly, but it doesn't fly very fast!!

I had a '99 Xplorer 300 and it was as fast as the 2007 X2 500 that I have now. I have to admit that I was nearly 60 lbs lighter then though.

huh she must be tired maybe...i mean she'll move but not like I would think a 2 stroke would...I put new belt and a dyno port exhaust...I called dyno and they said NO JETS...stock jets only..don't know what else will give me more..oh ya k&n filter as well...boring cylinders CAN"T be the ONLY thing left to gain power

Remember its a fan cooled motor, not a liquid, so no matter how much money you dump into it or how much work you put in its never gonna be fast, only functional.

The 400 Xplorer liquid is a much better platform for performance.

Ya so being fan cooled NOW should be the peak of it's performance no? Granted the snow has been some crap riding for me, I think the tires he's got have all to blame but there was a couple days we had that were great. Hooking up was NO problem, KEEPING up ....well that seems to be a different story. Can I clutch kit it and not bore and shave?

My 94 300 2x4 will do 52 mph any day. I would agree with the member that said to get a clutch kit.

Just wondering with the clutch kit do I have to modify or upgrade anything else immediately or can I just clutch it and see what it does for me?
