xplorer 300 ???

Before moding the machine, I would make sure that the unit stock works properly first. Clutching somthing that is "Out of wack" probably wont help much. Clean the carb, air filter, fuel filter, check compression, belt wear, stuff like that first. in my opinion..

Well went riding sunday had a terrible ride!!!!! I know i need new chains but i had just replaced the belt (shop installed) and it's slapping the bottom of the case???? could it have stretched in less than 100 miles? I've found by the time the wheels turn i'm already half throttle or more and then start spinning....once that happens.. you guessed it stuck!!!! I'm gonna take her right apart and go through her. someone suggested sprockets but not sure what way to go....most of my riding is in woods tight woods...low end power is prolly what i'm aiming for no? aside from another belt new chains i'm doing pistons and rings...and i'm seriously thinking of rcr pipe and he also has the clutch kit bigger carbs and air box..this machine has been pretty disappointing not even fun to ride...think i wanna upgrade everything for low end power and give it to the kid...I'll tell ya the brute force was IMPRESSIVE sunday ....idk

Right. Compairing a 300 Polaris to a brute force. Sounds fair... try the clutch kit first and make sure you have the right belt on it. Did this unit sit for a long time and needs the carb cleaned?? New gas?? Did you adjust the chain tension first???

It didn't sit it was used often....Not comparing to the brute Force just thinking I want all in all impressive of all the different machines that were with us (16 wheelers all together) the brute was a brute....as far as tightening chains NO ....would loose chains cause the belt to slap??
I have the belt off, it looks good the chains are off and have new ones in route...ready to take motor out and give her an overhaul aswell

Just figured out it's not my belt I hear rubbing the case it's actually the clutch!!! Not sure how or why but did notice there is shinny metal that shouldn't be...started it without belt and it's making the same noise, I'm getting a clutch kit for it anyways is there a way to get the clutch off without the special tool? Another question...if I clutch it for low end power do I get sprokets with less teeth or more?

Motor mounts ..huh I guess I'll find out here shortly when I get the motor out...But I need the clutch off anyways it needs a new case. The clutch itself has actually rubbed a hole through the case and I can't really fix it so it doesn't take on water and debris, from what I can see it's not easy must be a tool to remove that or a GOOD backyard way??

Well....I learned yesterday that Polaris machines are known for the clutch case rubbing from running through the woods in high rather than low gear, the case heats up and when cools warps and eventually begins to rub. So I have sent it to a shop to have that fixed and my chains replaced and clutch kit installed. We'll see what else they find or recommend when we're done! I'll let ya's know how I make out! Thanks for all the help!
