Default Is this a good deal?

My father-in-law is looking for a used quad for his farm. He'll be using it to pull a small trailer (4x6), for plowing, other typical farm work, and some occasional trail riding. He found this one on Craigs list. I'm not too familiar with the Polaris quads, so I'm wondering if this is too many hours (415) or too many miles (2082). Also, are there any issues this year/model typically has, because I'm sure he wouldn't want to purchase it and have to turn around and replace belts, brakes, etc. Thanks for the input.

THE 01 and newer are pretty good machines, we have thrased ours about pretty hard. the things i would do and check would be. 1 check all suspension including ball joints and a arm bushings front and rear. if you buy it i would change all fluids and check for contamination

The machine must of had a slow riding life. I have 220 hrs and 2000 miles now. It sure looks like the guy does the up keep and was not a mad man rider by the looks of things. No real issues with the 2001,it has no ECM or the dreaded plastic front diff cage to worry about.

NADA lists the Low Retail as $1,770 and Average Retail as $2,330. The '01s were great quads but they want too much for that one.

I sold my 1997 500 exploer for 3500 2 years ago with a plow.
Had orginal tires on it still and only half worn out.
People know I take care of my stuff...so first person that came bought it......u get what u pay for.

Wish I still had it......never ever gave me a problem.

Just bought a new efi 800 2008 model.....they don't build them like they use to.

That guy wants to much for that quad. Sounds like he's taken care of any
Issues but that's to much IMHO. My bud just picked up a 03 with 800 miles
Plow, windshield, winch...excellent cond. For 3100 Many good deals out there
Right now...that machine at that price wouldn't be my choice.

The 01s are great machines, but I agree that 3500 is a bit steep for that machine.

Well I sold mine like 2 or 3 years ago when the economy was good.
Mine looked in much better shape than the one you are looking at.
Also I never had anything go wrong with it either like the clutch in the one you are looking at.
I also had the winch for the plow. No winch for the plow is a sob ino.
Its a buyers market out there now so look around some.
What he is asking and what he is gona get is anybodys idea.
