Best tires for dvx 400
#1
I just bought an 06 dvx 400 and was wondering what the best replacement tires would be. I do alot of woods trail riding as well as some gravel road riding and even a little mud. I want something that has great wear and tear and a lot of grip for the trails. Basically an all around good tire. Any suggestions would be appreciated, Gary

If you are looking for something that will work well in the mud and soft woods, check out the Maxxis i-Razr radial........ Being a radial they have large spacing so they clean out better than anything I've used in the mud yet. Also being radials they suck up the hard hits in the front a lot better than bias ply tires, your rims will last longer with radials trust me. They also work surprisingly well on hard-pack and loose stuff.....
No they probably won't beat out ITP Holeshot tires for MX racing, and IMO the Razr II might be better for some things. I think the Razr II is the best sliding tire on the planet....You can tear the heck out of trails and corners with the Razr II...... The i-Razr just does not slide as well, they bite pretty hard. In fact Bill Balance called the i-Razr the best gripping sport tire he's ever used, and will occasionally run them in the muddy slop. However he also said that they grip too much sometimes in the loam, so he prefers the Razr I over both the Razr II and the i-Razr.......
As far as how long they will last, I cannot say because I just put mine on the middle of last summer....but FWIW they got a lot of use and still look new so expect I will get a couple seasons out of them at the very least. But I ride in a lot of soft soil and flat shale rocks, and for most of the spring, a lot of mud...... It was that mud that made me go with the i-Razr over the Razr II. So if you do spend a good amount of time in the mud and soft loam, you won't be disappointed with the i-Razr........

Im running RazR 2's on my 07 and have had pretty good luck with them. I run lots of terrain and they hold up in all. I've done almost 2 seasons all terrain riding + lots of "more then one to many" smoke shows and they are still awesome. I would personally recommend RazR 2's, Knarly's or Klaws.
